About Us

Cambridge based band The Willows are a group that take their influences from Americana and Country to the broad array of British and Irish Folk Music; bringing together both traditional and contemporary Roots Music.

They have often been compared to the likes of "Laura Marling" as well as "The Union Station Band" with "Alison Krauss". Not only is their ability as players gaining recognition, they unusually have 3 songwriters in the band which adds a depth of styles and flavours not often heard. Described as traditionally beautiful yet contemporary and alternative this band leave you wanting more every time!

The Willows are currently recording their first full length album "Beneath Our Humble Soil" due for release in 2012. After releasing their first EP in the winter of 2010 they felt that an album was the next step for the band. They received an amazing response from their EP gaining regular air play on Folk Radio UK and a number of BBC regional stations as well as appearing on the BBC Introducing live sessions.

Popularity has grown from strength to strength over the past 2 years as the band have spread their wings playing further and further afield. They have been lucky enough to have supported the likes of Lau, Boo Hewerdine, Uiscedwr, Rory McLeod and Hannah James & Sam Sweeney as well as many other great musicians on their travels. Last year the band also played numerous festivals including appearances to packed out crowds at Cambridge and Ely Folk Festivals. The Willows have already confirmed festival bookings for 2012 including Ely Folk Festival, Folk East Festival and The Secret Garden Party.
